Shit. I have like 16 minutes until this scholarship application's due, and it's so busy on the website for it that I can't get through. Without a doubt, procrastination at its worst.

I'm still trying to make it, though.

EDIT:;lksadjfKAJOGIAHROasdfAIHSKJG;

GOT IT IN AT 10:58! With 2 minutes to spare! It only took pressing submit application in like 4 different tabs for it to finally get through in one eventually.

First Day of School [Aug. 21st, 2008|09:07 pm]
dickyjones
I have to say that Mr. I and Frau Bowman are pretty much the most amazing teachers ever (at first glance at least). I mean Mr. I is the most awkward, hilarious, and racist guy ever. And from the first day, it looks like his teaching style is going to be exactly what I've wanted from every other VHS science teacher (meaning he's not even going to try to teach and we get to learn everything on our own). I'm actually excited for this class. And Frau Bowman's class is pretty much exactly the same as my freshman year with some of the...less good...people weeded out. She's one of the funniest people I know, and it's unintentional half of the time which makes it even funnier. And the class sounds relaxed and better than what we've been doing for the previous couple of years. I just hope she doesn't react badly when she realizes most of us hardly know any German anymore.

Band kind of sucks. This year we have no Mike Slack, Patterson, Lipscomb, or some hardcore percussionist to do everything for us so half of the marching equipment is still broken/lost/out of tune. And unfortunately, as I had second chair last year, I'm probably going to be the one all this work lands on. And none of the new bass drum players can keep a beat.

All of my other classes are pretty good. Econ and Calculus have great groups of people in them.

I'm not liking college hunting too much. I still have no idea whether to go into bio, engineering, biochem, enviro science, physics, or statistics. Hopefully, it'll work itself out a little bit later. I'm actually really liking a couple of Pennsylvania schools, though. Hopefully, I can get a crap load of financial aid to get out without a couple hundred thousand dollars in debt.

Maybe I'll have another entry sometime before two years from now.

Oh, Flaubert [Oct. 12th, 2007|09:59 am]

[Current Mood |sleepysleepy]

So this is what I just found while working on the Bovary nicenet project..

"In a letter to Ernest Feydeau he wrote: 'Books are made not like children but like pyramids... and are just as useless!" Flaubert's other, non-literary life was marked by his prodigious appetite for prostitutes, which occasionally led to venereal infections. "It may be a perverted taste," Flaubert said, "but I love prostitution, and for itself, too, quite apart from its carnal aspects.'"

So...Science Olympiad call-out meeting tomorrow. Who else is excited?

Service? [Feb. 10th, 2007|03:14 pm]
dickyjones
Wow, this is my first post in like 2 months or something. Anyways, I was sent the following conversation about getting groceries from someone who asked me to censor the names with 'Pat' and 'Ethan' if I wanted to post it :\ ... so I did...

Pat: Oh, I was serviced by a female today

Ethan: rawr

Pat: It was unusual

Pat: Usually it's just males

Ethan: :-\

Pat: Last time it was this young one, and he did it all wrong

Pat: He talked through the whole thing

Ethan: okay

Ethan: go to urbandictionary.com

Ethan: look up serviced

Pat: Gah!

Pat: My eyes!

Pat: In my world, servicing means giving some service

Ethan: :-\

Pat: Which in this case involved scanning of my goods, and then taking money off my credit card

Pat: Anyway, she was reasonably efficient

Ethan: ...

Pat: You have perverted a mind

Pat: I was serviced today no matter what you say

Ethan: LMAO

Pat: Fine, tell me how you would describe the operation that the female did with my stuff?
